"The Yearning for You is Endless" Started out as a song and then also became a painting.

"The Yearning for You is Endless"  The idea for this painting came from a song I wrote years ago called “The Yearning”  I have the full lyrics listed with the painting here, and you can also hear it on itunes or spotify or whatever because I released it on my last record. The lyrics really inform the painting.  You can almost see the “oyster shells as my palms” or the way that the painting illustrates “I will wait for the pearls to form layer by layer…” I had this image in my head for a while waiting to become a...

Seeing through the illusions of life! Thoughts on “Blueprint of Meaning”

I love the idea of seeing through the clouds, or mist, or confusion, or veil of some kind.  That is a kind of superpower.  The power to see beyond the literal world.  It is something to aspire to and something that we have the ability to do in varying degrees depending on our mental state.    When we are not in a good mental state, it is really hard to see reality.  It is hard to know what to do if we are really struggling.  Hard to know where to start if we are overwhelmed.  It is important, in my...

I glow not just in the night, but at all times, seen and unseen. I glow because I have to. I glow beneath the duty of this beautiful life." This idea started out as a movement. My whole body leaned to one side and danced it before I...

Layers of color until it’s just right.  The thought process of making “A Gathered Strength”

The idea for this painting started as a feeling of wanting to have a space inside that would attract strength in my life.  I have always admired people’s resilience and fortitude. Some people have to go through a lot in their life and the struggles are very real, yet they don’t get drawn down into the spiral of chaos and trauma.  They are so resilient that it almost brings tears to your eyes.  Wedding tears, of course.  Like you are just so much in awe of them.  I haven’t had trials like some of the people I’ve known, but as...
