"The Yearning" (song lyrics)
"The yearning for you is endless.
Unfold my arms in an eternal reach.
I have two oyster shells as my palms.
I put two mustard seeds in each.
I will wait for the pearls to form layer by layer by layer.
The yearning for you is endless.
Break up the static of the radio signal in my head.
Climb up the ladder that hangs as my spine instead.
Crawl through the muddy tunnels of my intellectual mind.
Drop all your naggy ladies.
Let's see what we can find.
The yearning that I know so well is the deepest ache I have ever felt.
I'm right behind the finish line but the line keeps moving ahead.
I swim to you as a child and you trick me and back up so slowly.
Through the water I see your arms reach and back straight into the deep end.
I believe you (that I cannot swim) that I need you to lift me up and out again,
even though I tread water as you beckon me further and further on.
The yearning that I know so well is the deepest ache I have ever felt.
I'm right behind the finish line but the line keeps moving ahead.
Tip toe on this tight rope...airplane arms out for balance.
I only reach the other side if I walk across and don't look down."
